NEW YORK – A new study from the University of Illinois has shown soluble fiber found in oats, apples and nuts will strengthen the immune system and reduces inflammation associated with obesity – related diseases.
Here’s a very simple way to spice up that old fashioned oatmeal.
Immune Boosting Oatmeal
1/2 cup quick cooking oatmeal (such as McCann’s Quick and Easy Steel Cut Oatmeal)
1 cup cold water
pinch of salt
1/2 diced apple
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp ground walnuts
In a deep bowl, mix oatmeal, water and salt. Microwave for 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in apple, walnuts and cinnamon. Enjoy!
